My project has been about heartbreak and how dark life can feel. My subject matters have been people, smoking and drinking. I chose those subject matters because this has been the way I have been feeling and I wanted to share how I have been feeling. I have felt like the bull and my ex was the bullfighter, and that's why I named my project "MATADOR." I approached this project by exploring different ways to capture feeling heartbroken and alone, by pushing myself with what I have been photographing. I also took all my photos in black and white and experimented with different editing techniques and different levels of contrast to see how dark I can get the photos. The reason I chose this approach is because I want people to feel something when they see my work and understand how I see the world in black and white as someone with bipolar. I hope the audience takes away how they have felt when looking at my work in an emotional and social way. My work may be controversial to older generations, but my goal has been to share and explain how youth culutre really is, and how people deal with heartbreak.
